Explanation:
Named after the long-deceased elder Atika (Shushep Atika) who is also refered to as Tshimushuminu. The Innu report that Atika walked up this mountain and was soon followed by his lover Nisseushkueu. It is said they went up the mountain to make love. There is a huge boulder on top of the mountain which is called Atika utashinim ('Atika's Rock').
