Translation: Red Water River
Official Name: Red Wine River
Feature: river

Explanation:
It is unclear whether the origin of this name is Innu or English. It could have been borrowed in either direction. Whether the Innu name in fact refers to 'wine' is also unclear. Kamikuakamit as an equivalent of 'wine' occurs only in Betsiamites and Sept-Îles. In Sheshatshiu, wine is called "shuminapui" which means 'grape juice'. Comments from Innu and Settler experts suggest that in the past, sections of the river were quite muddy and the water tended to be reddish.
